This edition of Tart Cards is innovatively bound in black and pink satin over board. The spine is laced, bodice-like, with black ribbon. Sewing and lace accents in black give further detail and shape, and hot pink endpapers suggest the coquettish content of the book. Two pockets in the second end-papers contain a collection of tart cards gathered from the streets of London. The book is presented in a black, cloth-lined box with a hot pink interior. The name of the book is embossed on the side and face of the box. Richard Minsky, founder of the New York Center for Book Arts, bound this edition.
The Tart Cards special edition has been purchased by the Sallie Bingham Center for Women’s History and Culture at Duke University (Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library).
