RIP Mike DeStefano

Erich Beasley, author of spring 2011 MBP book Comics’ Comics, remembers Mike DeStefano:

“Comedian Mike DeStefano passed away Sunday after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 44. Mike gained notoriety appearing on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, but had been a staple in the NYC comedy comunity for years before that. Mike also appeared on such shows as  Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham.

I met Mike a number of times at comedy clubs in Chicago. Despite his onstage loud, profane persona, offstage he was a big guy with an even bigger heart. I am very thankful that he took the time to draw a cartoon for my little book. He will be greatly missed.”
