June Awareness
June 16, 2011
We confess, the timing could have been a bit better. Two of our upcoming books, Animal Shelter Portraits and the paperback edition of Drawing Autism, would have been great releases during the month of April, which is both Animal Cruelty Awareness month and Autism Awareness month. Shoot. In an attempt to never again make this mistake, we are keeping tabs on which months are devoted to which organizations and their awareness campaigns. In order to shamelessly plug some of MBP’s upcoming and backlist titles, we tried to draw comparisons with some of June’s very own.
June is National Rabies Awareness month! We’ve lately been learning a lot about the role both dogs and cats have played in literature over the centuries. From Tin Tin to Alice in Wonderland, our canine and feline friends are ever-present characters in historic tales of adventure and more. Be sure to check out Dogs in Books, due out this fall, and Puss in Books, arriving on our shelves next spring.
June is National Hunger Awareness month! What better way to battle hunger than to cook up a delicious meal? There are some seriously awesome cookeries coming your way as we get more skilled in the kitchen. Check out the Hot Knives Vegetarian Cookbook: Salad Daze this fall for veggie friendly recipes, and look forward to the final book in the Face Food series, The Face Food Bento Book, and a cookbook in a class all its own, The Curious Cookbook, chock full of historical recipes from the strange to the delicious.
June is National Hernia Awareness month! Keep this in mind while reading three of our most recent titles: Comics’ Comics, Cereal: Snap, Crackle, Pop Culture, and Celebrity Vinyl (new to paperback). Absurdly funny, these are pop-culture amazingness that can’t be missed. Come on, we promise John Travolta album covers (yes, multiple!) with plenty of turtleneck sweaters to go around.
Enjoy these and more this spring and summer, and don’t forget to check our upcoming books and book list right here on this site to get your hands on MBP’s freshest, beautifully designed books throughout the year.
